The conception of www.ecohomeforyou.com began in 1996 in an effort to provide environmentally responsible options to the building industry. We were considered “a little hippy” at the time because we were utilizing sustainable products and practices in building projects before the need was fully understood. We believe that we can all make a difference, no matter how small. Our motto is "There are many shades of green", and our passion is to work with clients to develop their unique shade, from light to dark. If every new building contained one environmentally friendly building material or practice, the effect on our environment and the society in which we live could be immense. Our goal has been to integrate the most efficient and earth friendly materials possible, within a reasonable budget and where it impresses the greatest impact. We also offer sustainability consulting, specializing in improving energy efficiency and lowering operating costs for existing and new buildings.

Diane Ramsey, Design Director, utilizes her background in textiles and design when sourcing products and implementing sustainable design. Recently, she recognized the need to provide more extensive information on products and design to a larger client base; the www.ecohomeforyou.com branch grew out of this need. Although it was more challenging to source sustainable products and companies in 1996, the recent movement to reduce and reverse our impact on the environment has created a market for suppliers to provide a more sustainable product. The challenge in finding these great products has evolved with the sustainability movement, with so many product offerings coming to light. She now has the ability to review the product more extensively, including the manufacturing practices of the company. She believes a truly sustainable product is also created in a responsible manner, whenever feasible. Our goal at www.ecohomeforyou.com is to provide our visitors and clients with sustainable product information, design consultations, and links to exceptional products we have carefully chosen from our vendors. We have taken careful consideration of our twelve years experience in sustainable building and have analyzed how we can effectively service our visitors. We will rely on our Ecopartners to work with us to build their latest product innovations on our site. We trust that our product information will inspire builders and homeowners to integrate sustainable materials into their projects, creating truly unique and responsible living spaces.
